Transform Your Body with Revolutionary Body Contouring
Are you bothered by specific areas of your body that are resistant to diet and exercise? Whether you’re searching for a minor touch-up or a major transformation, VASER Lipo may be the procedure you’ve been waiting for. This revolutionary fat removal procedure is a safe alternative over aggressive liposuction that can damage surrounding tissues and involve a much longer recovery period. Whether you are looking to reshape the traditional problem areas – your waste, thighs or bottom, or if you’re looking to finely sculpt the more delicate areas such as your arms, neck or chest, VASER Lipo can be tailored to produce superior results in just one session, without pain and with a short recovery time.
VASER Lipo uses the revolutionary technique called LipoSelection® to target unwanted fat and gently remove it from the body. To begin, the target area is injected with a saline solution known as “tumescent fluid.” The tumescent fluid numbs the target area while shrinking local blood vessels. The fluid also expands the volume of the targeted area, making it easier to gently remove fat cells. Small-diameter probes are inserted into the body through tiny incisions. The probes resonate a high ultrasonic frequency which literally shakes the fat cells loose, while leaving blood vessels, nerves and connective tissues intact. Once the loose fat cells mix with the tumescent fluid, they are removed from the body by using gentle suction.
VASER Lipo is an extremely precise, gentle procedure where patients typically report dramatic reshaping with very little downtime. Cosmetic surgeons recommend VASER Lipo because of its precision and ability to produce predictable results, as compared to traditional liposuction which can result in lumpy and uneven areas.
In virtually all cases, gynecomastia cannot be corrected with liposuction alone. Liposuction removes excess fat cells, so it will be a component of the male breast reduction procedure because extra fat contributes to the condition. In most cases, gynecomastia is also caused by excess glandular tissue, which is dense tissue that lies beneath the nipple area. While liposuction is very good at removing fat, it is not designed to remove glandular tissue, which must be excised (cut away). Dr. Ishoo expertly performs all of these techniques in a single procedure.
Removing the fat only with liposuction, is unlikely to yield results that you’ll be happy with if you have true gynecomastia and not just pseudogynecomastia. The dense glandular tissue will still be there, causing the pectoral area to look breast-like. The size and amount of this glandular tissue varies from man to man, so it’s important to choose an experienced gynecomastia surgeon like Dr. Ishoo. He knows how to build a procedure that addresses your chest tissue. Techniques may include a combination of:
Types of Liposuction: Ultrasonic & Power-Assisted
Liposuction is the process of suctioning excess fat tissue through a thin metal tube known as a cannula. Incisions are minimal and virtually invisible after the healing period. UAL and PAL are two different methods of fat removal. PAL refers to Power-Assisted Liposuction, while UAL refers to Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction.
What is PAL Liposuction?
With Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL), the “power” lies in the cannula. The cannula utilizes rapid vibrations to break up fat cells before suction. This allows for a smooth contour and removes fat at a faster rate. This method is ideal for patients with large amounts of fat as well as more precise contouring because it is more effective for complete removal.
What is UAL Liposuction?
Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction (UAL) uses ultrasound energy instead of vibration to emulsify, or loosen and release fat cells. This method specifically targets fat cells. The ultrasound energy releases all the fat cells evenly and allows for comprehensive and smooth fat reduction. VASER liposuction also stimulates more skin-tightening and addresses concerns with post-surgical sagging skin.
Is it possible to do both types of liposuction?
Yes! Both PAL and UAL techniques used together achieve smoother curves, tighter skin, and significant fat removal. Dr. Ishoo usually uses both devices and techniques in his patients to achieve the perfect contour, reduce bruising, and create more impactful results.

How is it performed?
Most gynecomastia is currently treated by the use of liposuction (preferably with ultrasonic liposuction such as VASER®). The incisions are hidden at the margins of the areolas or in the armpits. Liposuction is performed in the area of fullness as well as along the margin of the pectoralis major muscle and also toward the back as this area is often enlarged in gynecomastia. The goal is not only to get rid of the excess breast tissue but also to enhance the shape of the male chest. Along those lines, fat can be injected into the muscles at the same time to enhance the muscles’ shape instead of a pec implant.
Removal of glandular tissue is often required to prevent recurrence and also smooth the appearance of the chest. The details of the operation depend on the patient’s preference, goals and anatomy. With proper planning, gynecomastia treatment can offer a superb result with no signs of surgical intervention. With Dr. Ishoo’s skill and experience, and his attentive and compassionate staff, we exceed our patients’ expectations.
Additional FAQ about Liposuction
What's the difference between liposuction and liposculpture?
Liposuction and liposculpture are really one and the same. The point of the term liposculpture is to suggest that the surgeon is artistically sculpting the body rather than just randomly sucking out as much fat as possible to debulk without regard to shape. Dr. Ishoo has been trained and experienced in Hi Definition liposculpture nd focuses his attention on sculpting the chest and torso.
Is liposuction a common procedure for men?
Many of Dr. Ishoo’s Gynecomastia patients request additional areas of liposculpture as add-on procedures. No matter how hard men exercise and work out at the gym, there are some stubborn fat deposits that won’t go away, even in the very thinnest and fittest men. Of course men with a more average build, and certainly those with a few pounds to lose have parts of their bodies that would be improved with liposuction. These changes are beneficial when undressed, in a business suit, in workout clothes, or in a bathing suit. And since the scars are hidden, liposculpture leaves little of the telltale sorts of signs of plastic surgery that concern men considering plastic surgery.
What are the most common areas men will treat with liposuction?
Men will most often get liposuction under their chins (submental region), chests with or without gland removal, and love handles. The abdomen is the next most common. Outer thighs are only very occasionally done. Unlike women, upper backs, arms, inner thighs, and knees are never done.
Are liposculpture results as good in men as in women?
The results are actually better in men than they are in women. There are two shortcomings in liposuction in women. The first is the ability of the skin to contract. Men have thicker skin and tend to maintain more elasticity than women. The other is that with liposuction there is always a risk of seeing some waviness or irregularity under the surface of the skin. The thicker skin and greater number of hair follicles in men obscure those irregularities more than the skin does in women. Finally, fat deposits in men seem to be much more discrete, with delineated boundaries. This allows better sculpting of the treated areas into the surrounding areas, thereby making the result more natural and attractive.
Are there technical differences between doing liposuction in men and women?
The fat in men is sometimes more dense and fibrous than it is in women. For this reason, Dr. Ishoo has power liposuction and VAER ultrasonic liposuction devices available to use whenever necessary on his male patients. These instruments allow him to more smoothly and gently sculpt his male patients.
Can liposuction be done on the chest?
It is simply amazing how much better men can look after liposuction of their chest. Whether overweight or of normal weight, many men carry excess fat in this area. Sometimes the fat is just proportional to their being overweight. Though patients who are overweight ideally should lose weight, it turns out that chest fat is often very difficult to lose with weight loss. But even so, reducing the fat in the chest makes clothes fit so much better and makes men look dramatically thinner so many men choose to do this procedure even when losing the weight is an option. Other chest liposuction patients are men who have lost weight whose chest remains prominent. Finally, there are men who have gynecomastia – abnormal breast development. When the tissue is hard, it has to be cut out by the surgeon. But when it is soft it is called pseudogynecomastia and that can be treated by liposuction. The fat in a man’s chest is often very fibrous and tenacious, making it resistant to ideal volume removal and sculpturing by standard liposuction techniques. For these reasons Dr. Ishoo frequently uses ultrasonic liposuction or power assisted liposuction to help him sculpt the most ideally shaped chest.
When is liposuction ideal for a man's stomach?
Some men have extra fat on the inside around the organs, and some men have extra fat just under the skin. Liposuction only works for the fat that is under the skin. Men that can sit down and pinch a roll of skin and fat probably have fat under the skin (subcutaneous fat), and this is well treated by liposuction. But there are some men with very firm bellies who cannot really pinch a lot of skin and fat. It can be obvious even to them that the fat is on the inside. Surgery cannot do anything for them at present. Their only option is weight loss. But for the countless men who have too much subcutaneous fat, liposuction can work wonders. It works not just to make men thinner, but it is indeed very effective at sculpting a nice contour to their abdomens. Liposculpture can help emphasize a six-pack and the results can be very beautiful.
Does liposuction of the love handles work well in men?
Liposuction of the love handles is one of the best areas for liposuction in men. Many guys have shredded six packs yet still cannot get rid of their love handles. The skin is thick, the area contracts nicely, and the results are amazing. It is important to recognize that the ideal male physique does have some sense of love handles – just look at a photo of Michaelangelo’s David or other similar work of art. If the love handles are entirely removed the man can become overly “hourglassed” appearing which is both feminizing and unattractive. Dr. Ishoo uses liposuction not simply to make you thinner, but to make you look better and more masculine.
If you do liposuction in one area does it come back in another area?
Fat is stored when food is consumed and not burned. So if you have a relatively stable weight, then this is simply not an issue. If you are going to gain weight, then you will have fewer fat cells in any areas that were treated, so proportionately fat will go more to other areas. When liposuction is done to put someone into better balance, then this isn’t a problem, because they will gain or lose weight in a more proportional manner. The people who have trouble with fat going elsewhere were people who were overweight and had liposuction in one or two areas that weren’t necessarily disproportionate. When those folks gain weight, then the fat does seem to go somewhere else.
